For use on Tacoma 2WD/4WD Trucks (6/95-2004) - 4 Speed and 5 Speed Trucks
LC Engineering offers a Short Shifter, which shortens the shifter throw by over 40% to a lightning quick 5” of movement. Quick for shifting but not too short. Shifter kit installs in minutes and accepts the stock knob or most aftermarket shift knobs.
Installation:
- Remove Shift Handle and Shifter Boot. Remove original shifter from shift tower, lift rubber grommet. Push down and turn shift handle and remove. Remove the (6) 8mm hex bolts holding the shift tower to trans. (Do Not Remove The Gasket)
- Install aluminum shift ring lining up boltholes.
- Install gasket on top of ring.
- Install shifter tower on ring and gasket.
- Using the hardware provided in kit, start all bolts and tighten evenly.
- Install the new short shifter into the shift tower (make sure the shifter end locates into the shift fork location), push down and turn retainer ring to lock in shifter.
- Reinstall shifter dust cover, shifter boot and knob.
