Important: These rods are carefully manufactured using the best materials, manufacturing methods and quality control procedures. Much effort has been taken to eliminate all possible defects. Even so, it is just good engine building practice to check all critical dimensions prior to set up and assembly of your motor. Clean rods thoroughly and also inspect for any dings, burrs or debris on threads and at split line mating surfaces caused by shipping or casual handling.
Assembly: Oil threads lightly. Some crank rod journals may have deformed or oversized radii which may interfere with the rod bearings or rod itself. Check your crank closely and correct before proceeding. Side Clearance should be MINIMUM .008”.
Wristpins: Bent or out of round wrist pins will cause deformation of pin bores. Check your pins! We do not recommend the use of pins of less than .110” wall in normally aspirated engines and .150” wall in forced induction applications. These are minimum wall requirements for chromemoly or equivalent materials. We can supply pins if needed.
